HOW TO BEGIN YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY
Do you enjoy the idea of starting a fitness journey but don’t know how to start? Interested in finally taking the first step in transforming your body? Here are 8 tips to get you on the right track and feeling confident in your fitness journey.

FIND MOTIVATION– To take your fitness journey seriously you MUST be motivated. It takes hard work and dedication to make major changes to your body. Try not to compare yourself to others but to find motivation in other people. Loving your body even before you start your journey is key. You should have a positive mindset about your body, mind and personal journey even BEFORE starting your journey. Everybody started somewhere. Remember that.
KNOW YOUR GOALS– This is the first step in starting a new fitness journey, besides being motivated of course. You need to know what it is you are trying to work on. Building muscle, losing fat? Building your glutes specifically? Upper body? This is important because your diet and exercises should reflect your goals, so it is different for everyone. Identifying your goals is important and will help with your fitness decisions that will sculpt your body according to your goals.
CREATE A WORKOUT PLAN– Regardless of whether you purchase a workout program or create your own you need to have something laid out so you can stay on track. How many times a week are you going? What days specifically? Investing in a journal or having an app where you can put all of this down will help tremendously.
START SMALL– Do not try to go full force and try those moves you seen on Instagram. Start small and see what works for you. Switch up your workouts and see what movements give you the best results and which ones you like the most. Also start off with little to no weight. From this you can then proceed to go heavier and challenge yourself more.

TRACK YOUR CALORIES AND MACROS– It is so important to keep your nutrition on track. Diet truly is important when trying to meet a specific fitness goal. You need to obviously figure out how many calories to eat and what your macros are depending on your goals. It is then important to either keep a food diary journal or an app. I personally use the MyFitnessPal app and it has helped me stay in line with my diet so much. Do you get a cheat day? How much daily water should you take for your weight? Supplements? Figure out every aspect of your diet for your goals.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS– In addition to your workout plan, keeping track of your progress is essential. This includes the workout you did after you completed them. You should also weigh yourself if it will NOT make you stress out because that is unhealthy. Also, make sure to keep track of how much weight you were able to lift, as well as any PR (personal records).
CUT BAD HABITS SLOWLY– Any bad habits you had prior to your fitness journey may take some time to cut out such as having a clean diet, sticking to a fitness routine, being active every day, etc. but it is imperative to do all of these things. This also pertains to cutting out things such as pop, fast food, and alcohol. This could also mean changing your sleep habits. Basically, anything that is hindering your health physically, or mentally needs to be cut out of your life.
DON’T GIVE UP– Slow progress is better than no progress. You are not going to be perfect but if you keep going and stick to it you WILL meet your goals. A fitness journey is exactly that, a JOURNEY not a destination. It is an ongoing process and a rewarding one at that.
